A loving challenge for myself

My weight has stayed relatively the same for several years. Occasionally I will need to increase my exercise, reel in my snack and beverage consumption and purposely plan food options. I usually weigh myself regularly, but some time has gone by since I stepped on the scale. When I did weigh myself I was the heaviest I’ve been in more than 10 years. When I was this heavy, my cholesterol was becoming concerning and my doctor told me that I may have to take medication. I immediately lost weight and my cholesterol levels remained in check. Working from home and not going to my routine cardio exercise classes or even going to the gym regularly has caught up with me. I also used to walk at least three miles each day, but that has been replaced with morning meetings. I looked up COVID weight gain online and I am definitely not alone. People are gaining an average of 10-15 pounds and some are gaining up to 50 pounds. If you have noticed similar weight gain, I wanted to let you know you aren’t alone. Please give yourself grace and if you want lovingly challenge yourself to take control of the situation. Some things that I am trying are to plan and cook home meals, be intentional about my portions, drink more water and get up earlier to incorporate walking back into my routine. Even though I want to get my weight back in control, most importantly I want to be the thriving me that I can be. I am taking advantage of the weather and actually getting outside and walking around my neighborhood.
