Sharice Burnett was born and raised in Portland, OR. She is married to her college sweetheart Christopher Burnett and they have two girls ages 5 and 9. Sharice is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has her own private therapy practice where she sees African-American children, adults, families, and couples. She absolutely LOVES being a mental health provider and feels honored that people trust her in their most vulnerable moments. She is extremely passionate about advocating for racial equity and justice, especially for Black and Brown people. When Sharice is not working, you can find her going on adventures with her family and friends. She also enjoys listening to podcasts, traveling, and trying different vegan restaurants. I am happy to introduce Sharice to our Good2Know Family. At work she is my accountability partner. She is someone who I have grown to trust and depend on. In addition she is also someone who I can be real with, laugh with and celebrate with. Enjoy! ~Darcell
What is your favorite season and why?
The end of summer and right before fall. I love that it’s hot out, but the leaves are starting to fall.
What is the first thing you wanted to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an actress and I wanted to be in movies. I really don’t know why because I wasn’t into acting or theater.
What career advice would you give to your younger self?
To slow down a bit and to know that I don’t have to figure it out so quickly. I would tell myself to really enjoy the journey of learning.
What is your biggest pet peeve – what gets on your last nerve?
I’m a firm believer in keeping your word when you agree to something. If you say you are going to do something, just show up and do it. Things happen, so just communicate if you aren’t going to show up or if you aren’t going to get something done.
What’s a favorite way to spend a day off?
I stay busy, so on a day off I’m typically reorganizing or redecorating a room or something. I enjoy getting outside and taking walks. Pre-COVID, I loved trying new restaurants. I liked getting together with friends, grabbing lunch and catching up. That has definitely changed.
What song always gets you out on the dance floor?
I like any group dance like The Wobble.
Is there a product you couldn’t live without?
Coconut oil. I use it for everything, including my skin and my hair.
What makes you feel at peace?
I love when I have quiet time to pray, journal, read my Bible or the Bible App. I also feel really at peace when I’m outside and it’s sunny or I’m near the ocean. I’m at peace being with Chris and the girls.
What’s your go to midnight snack?
Lately it’s been popcorn. I’ve been hooking up my popcorn with all kinds of seasonings and hot sauce. I also like sweets. Soon it will be Girl Scout Cookies.
*Sharice’s daughter Cam is selling Girl Scout Cookies.

Tell us something Good 2 (to) know
Self-care is not selfish. We have to take care of ourselves first before we can show up in all of these other roles in our lives.
